พระครูวรเวทมุนี ปรากฏนามเป็นที่รู้จักกันทั่วไป ๆ ว่า "หลวงพ่ออี๋" เพราะท่านชื่อ อี๋ มาแต่แรก ท่านเป็นบุตรชาย นายขำ นางเอียง ทองขำ เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 1 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2408 ตรง กับวันอาทิตย์ ขึ้น 11 ค่ำเดือน 11 ปีฉลู ที่บ้านตำบลสัตหีบ กิ่งอำเภอสัตหีบ จังหวัดชลบุรี
วัดสัตหีบ (วัดหลวงพ่ออี๋) เป็นวัดที่หลวงพ่ออี๋ได้สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2442 และท่านเป็นเจ้าอาวาสองค์แรก หลวงพ่ออี๋มีความชำนาญในด้านสมถะวิปัสสนาธุระมากคือ คล่องแคล่วในการเข้าใน ออกนอก และในการพักจิตอยู่เป็นกสิณ และในธรรมารมณ์ตามปรารถนา จะเรียกว่า มีวสีภาพก็ควร เพราะเมื่อท่านปรารถนาจะสำรวมจิตแล้ว ไม่มีอะไรมาขัดขวางทางเดินภายในของท่านได้ เป็นการเข้าออกได้เรียบร้อยตามประสงค์
"หลวงพ่ออี๋" ได้สร้างพระเครื่องรางต่างๆ ไว้มาก รวมทั้งปลัดขิกที่มีชื่อมาก (พอๆ กับหลวงพ่อเหลือ แปดริ้ว) ทั้งตะกรุด เสื้อยันต์ เหรียญ พระปิดตา "พระสาม" และ "พระสี่" (พรหมสี่หน้า) กล่าวกันว่าในระยะ พ.ศ. 2483-86 นั้น หลวงพ่ออี๋ก็มีของดีเกรียงไกรออกสู่สงครามอินโดจีนไปก็มาก ชื่อเสียงของท่านดังขนานไปกับหลวงพ่อจาด วัดบางกระเบา และหลวงพ่อจง วัดหน้าต่างนอกทีเดียว พระเครื่องรางของขลังของหลวงพ่ออี๋มีสร้างออกมามากแบบเอาใน พ.ศ. 2484 และตาม พ.ศ. นี้เอง "พระสาม" และ "พระสี่" หรือ พระพรหมสี่หน้า ก็ได้กำเนิดตามออกมาด้วย พระทั้ง 2 พิมพ์เป็นพระเนื้อเมฆพัด องค์หนึ่งทำเป็นพระ 3 หน้าพระทับนั่งบนฐานบัวกลีบ (3 หน้า 3 องค์) ส่วนพระสี่หรือพรหมสี่หน้าก็ทำเป็นพระประทับนั่งบนฐานเขียงเหมือนกันทั้ง 4 หน้า (4 หน้า 4 องค์) ด้านพุทธคุณมีทั้งแคล้วคลาด และคงกระพันชาตรี
สิริรวมอายุของท่านได้ 82 ปี ชีวิตหรือวิญญาณของหลวงพ่ออี๋ แม้จะจากไปจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้ (พ.ศ.2542) นับได้ 53 ปี แล้วแต่ก็เหมือนว่าชีวิตของท่านยังดำรงอยู่ ทั้งคุณค่าของงานทางฝ่ายสงฆ์และ ฝ่ายสังคมโลกที่หลวงพ่ออี๋ได้บำเพ็ญบารมีมาตั้งแต่เริ่มบวชจนถึงมรณภาพ บารมีของท่านยังปรากฏอยู่ในวัดสัตหีบ ดังที่เห็นอยู่ในปัจจุบันนี้
Luang Phor Yee Wat Sattahip is one of the guru monks in Choburi Province in the pre-WW2 era. Luang Phor Yee is well-known for his Wicha knowledge and consecrating of Palakits. He is also the teacher of Luang Phor Tee Wat Hu Chang. Back in the pre-WW2 era, not many monks had the knowledge to use Mekaphat to consecrate amulets except for Luang Phor Yee Wat Sattahip and Luang Phor Boon Wat Klang Bang Kaew. It is believed that by using Mekaphat as the material of the amulet, it can prevent black magic, protect against danger and bring good luck to wearers.
Luang Phor Yee was born on 1st October BE 2408 in Chonburi Province. At the age of 25, Luang Phor Yee was ordained as a monk at Wat Ang Silanok. After his ordination, Luang Phor Yee studied magic and meditation under the guidance of Luang Phor Dang Wat Ang Silanok, Luang Phor Jun Wat Ang Silanok and Luang Phor Muen Wat Ang Silanok for 6 years. After that, Luang Phor Yee went to study Wicha and meditation from Luang Phor Parn Wat Bang Hia who was a guru monk famous for his tiger amulet. Moreover, under the guidance of Luang Phor Parn, Luang Phor Yee was brought along to practice meditation in deep forest around Thailand. Afterward, Luang Phor Yee went back to Chonburi Province and his father decided to build Wat Sattahip on BE 2450.
After finishing building Wat Sattahip, Luang Phor Yee went to deep forest to practice meditation. While meditating, Luang Phor Yee discovered a pool that had Palakit inside it. Luang Phor Yee saw the Palakit in the pool swimming on the water as if it was a fish. Then , Luang Phor Yee tried to take the Palakit out from the pool but he could not. Upon that, a villager saw it and told Luang Phor Yee that if he wanted to take out the Palakit he would need the help of a young female. Soon, Luang Phor Yee founded a young female that was willing to go to the river and take out the Palakit. After the Palakit was taken out of the river, Luang Phor Yee brought it back to the temple and tried to consecrate Palakit. It was the first time Luang Phor Yee consecrated a batch of Palakit and he consecrated only 108 pieces but it is believed that the Palakit from the river was the most unique as it is the first Palakit. After consecrating the Palakit, Luang Phor Yee would put the batch of Palakit into the temple’s pool to find out whether the Palakits could swim like what he saw in the river. And it turns out that all the Palakit were able to swim hence this made Luang Phor Yee well-known.Luang Phor Yee passed away on 20th September BE 2489 at the age of 82.
